Reliable and accurate real-time traffic information is proven to be a successful and cost effective solution to managing congestion", added Schäfer.

TomTom Traffic provides precise and up-to-date traffic information for highways, major roads and secondary roads using OpenLR location referencing in 33 countries in North America, Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The service includes congestion forecasting which indicates whether a jam is growing or dispersing, and estimates how long the delays will last.

In de outlook staat dat ze extra uitgaven gaan doen aan nieuwe mapmaking systemen, die in de toekomst het kaarten onderhoud goedkoper moet maken. Het verschil tussen 25 en 20 cent kan daar in zitten.

De investeringen worden opgeschroefd van 91 miljoen naar 100 miljoen voor het ontwikkelen van een navigatieplatform om de concurrentiekracht te vergroten. De winst loopt dus niet terug door lagere winstgevendheid, maar door meer investeringen.
