    Boson Energy has developed a plasma-assisted gasification process that uses extremely high temperatures to break down waste into hydrogen, carbon dioxide and a molten slurry that solidifies into a blue/grey glassy rock

    How does the process work?
    The system Boson has designed — based on 25 years of development — is remarkably simple. Roughly shredded waste enters a vertical “reactor” that is heated from the bottom by electric-powered plasma torches capable of producing temperatures of up to 7,000°C.

    The temperature at the top of the reactor is far lower than at the bottom, so the waste goes through ever-increasing heat zones as it travels to the bottom, with each temperature zone performing its own important functions.

    Boson is now developing ten commercial projects across Europe — in Spain, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Poland, the Netherlands and Luxembourg — which are included in the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance’s (ECH2A) pipeline of 750+ projects that meet European Commission criteria.

    “Each of the projects have different time schedules,” says Grimbrandt. “One project is already permitted, we hope we will get permitting in place of two more projects this year.”

    Boson’s first commercial-size demonstration plant for hydrogen from wood waste is already in construction and on track to be up and running by end of 2022.

    The company expects to start up its first commercial plant for non-recyclable waste in 2023 — a project that already has waste supply and H2 offtake lined up.

    Om er een maar 1 te noemen, en de rest doet er niet voor onder. Ben onder de indruk.
    En dan bedenken dat PYR daar mee samenwerkt.

Na zijn pensionering bij Shell is hij non-executive director van Boson Energy , voorzitter van de Energy Transition Group en fellow van het Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, Fellow van het Energy Institute, een lid van Chatham House en Chapter Zero (een gemeenschap van commissarissen die de energietransitie begrijpen en kunnen positioneren bij hun bestuurscollega's).

    PYROGENESIS ANNOUNCES PROJECT TO INTRODUCE PLASMA TORCHES INTO THE UPSTREAM ANODE BAKING PROCESS

    In aluminum production, a smelter needs approximately 425 kg of carbon anode – which is consumed during the smelting process – to produce one ton of primary aluminum. The demand for anodes is so significant that several stand-alone manufacturers of high-grade anodes, as well as anode baking systems, are on-site at major aluminum producers and in constant operation – baking new anodes, of up to 6 feet in length and weighing 1.2 tons each1,2. As a result, improving and optimizing this anode baking process is a key objective in the industry, and the Client considers PyroGenesis’ plasma torches as part of that solution set.

    “Once again, we have yet another Agreement underscoring the applicability, and timing, of PyroGenesis ’offerings within the aluminum industry,” said Mr. P. Peter Pascali, CEO and Chair of PyroGenesis. “Global aluminum producers face increasing metal demand, rising energy costs, higher market prices for high-quality aluminum, and new restrictions to meet carbon emissions targets. This agreement is a direct result of our increased sales efforts and R&D, targeting innovative new uses of our ultra-high heat expertise and plasma-based solutions. As stated in our aluminum business line update release of April 20th, the upstream opportunities are numerous and continue to provide additional opportunities for PyroGenesis’ plasma processes. In this particular case, the Client has informed us that a typical anode baking furnace of 3 fires requires 144 gas burners of 200kw each, with the largest anode baking plants operating up to 7 furnaces with 4 fires each. This clearly illustrates the magnitude of this opportunity.”

    Under the scope of this agreement, the performance of PyroGenesis’ plasma torches will be analyzed, and the temperature distributions and flame characteristics will be determined. The results will provide third-party validation of the potential in replacing conventional oil and gas burners in carbon anode baking facilities with PyroGenesis’ plasma torches.

    Dat weet ik niet, maar als je de redenatie volgt dat Elysis pretendeert een proces te ontwikkelen ( in Canada met fikse overheids subsidies) om fossielvrij aluminium te produceren.
    Hoe produceer je dan de anodes voor dit proces zonder inbreng van fossiele brandstoffen?
    Ik denk dat meerdere bedrijven die de apparatuur leveren om de carbon inductie anodes te produceren een weg zoeken om dit zonder inbreng van fossiele brandstoffen te gaan doen.
    Pyrogenesis is bereid hierin te investeren, en is in deze technologie " top of the Bill".
    Waarschijnlijk zullen zij dan ook voor korte termijn de
    "first gainers" in deze bedrijfstak worden.
    Na een paar jaar zal er wel copy-paste volgen omdat deze markt niet de bescherming heeft van patenten.

    P.s over enkele maanden verwacht ik eenzelfde ontwikkeling in de cement industrie.

    We announced on May 26, 2022, that the QRR Commissioning commissioning phase of the program has been completed and that the PUREVAPTM Quartz Reduction Reactor (QRR) pilot plant is now functional...

    This was a massive milestone reached after many years of struggles, delays and FUD agents claiming that it would never happen ... So a bit of sell-on-the-news actions is not unexpected, especially in such a tough market for non-revenue innovation-driven companies like HPQ. (Just need to compare HPQ long term trend versus those of the Ark innovation funds to get an idea of the underlying market realities)

    And yet here we are, about 7 working days after that news, and you already have FUD agent playing nervous nellies making a big sting on social media about my silence during the last 7 days, as it means something...

    That argument makes light of the fact that PyroGenesis is HPQ's technical partner, that they are the one running the ongoing PUREVAPTM QRR program, and that they have once again made a substantial Investissement in HPQ at a significant premium to the market... TALK ABOUT BELIEVING IN THE PROJECT!

    HPQ history has demonstrated that those that betted against HPQ in 2018 when PYR invested at $0.12 when the market was $0.08, those that betted against HPQ in 202O when PYR invested at $0.60 when the market was $0.50, all lost their's bets, so I am very confident that those that are betting now against HPQ will once again be proven wrong and lose their bets once again...

    To conclude this section of my blog, let me repeat something that I have said many times over and over, no news does not mean bad news, it simply means that we have noting material to report at the present. (PS: Bad news is material, so if there was, I would have to report it on the spot).

    In another blog, I will cover the silliness of the FUD comments about the duration of the program...
