    Goedenavond greenspanalan,

"Unreasonable demands from the EIB" Saab unsympathetic to Thursday's nightmare clearance

TTELA on Easter Saturday had it confirmed that Saab had a letter from the Bank late on Maundy Thursday.

However, there was an Easter gift to the more difficult to digest the battle.

    - Bank came up with a new list of demands that are very difficult to meet, "said a surprised Eric Geer, spokeswoman for Saab, told TTELA on Saturday night.

On Saturday joined the European Investment Bank (EIB) Vice-President Eva Srejber out to TT and told them that the EIB was given to a comfort to Saab on Thursday.

She also says to TT that "what now remains is that the GM approves the settlement," without elaborating like to clarify how the EIB itself formulated its decision.

But the people TTELA talked to on Easter Eve gives a very different picture of what it is that puts a spoke in the wheels for the implementation of Saab's vital real estate business.

The problem lies in the response elicited from the EIB on Maundy Thursday.

    - Sure enough it came a letter from the Bank last Thursday, but it is quite impossible to accept. The EIB has completely changed the proposal were received, "says Lars Carlstrom, who is spokesperson for the Russian businessman Vladimir Antonov.

The same image gives Saab CIO Eric Geers.

    - We really thought we had arrived well after the Debt Office and the Government's clearance. So suddenly the EIB with a new list of demands that are very difficult to meet, "he says.

What is at stake for the new requirements would none of them tell me than, more than that there are large changes compared with the approach already approved by the Debt Office. And they both are amazed at the EIB's new list of demands.

    - I have no sympathy. Here it is, in fact, if a reduced exposure to risk because someone else takes it, "says Geer.

Lars Carlstrom said that the disappointment was huge on Thursday night, since the EIB finally come to its notice at 1645.

    - There was much frustration in all camps. At Saab, with Spyker and of Antonov Group.

Do you understand why the EIB makes these requirements?

    - No, it is completely inexplicable. If you do not want Saab to go bankrupt, "said Carlstrom.

Saab has responded Bank over the weekend, but if it leads to some new calls over the Easter weekend is uncertain.

It also provides different pictures of how, where and how the former Saab owner GM is involved in the process of selling Saab's properties to quickly obtain vital capital. And whether GM slows the process.

Eva Srejber on the Bank points out that GM must approve the settlement. But other people familiar with the deal say that GM has no interest in stopping the deal - and that already made clear it.

Dagens Industri writes on its website that it has seen the letter that GM's Group will be sent to the EIB, and that will confirm this.

"GM will, if necessary, to remove all restrictions of that agreement if it becomes necessary to get the current property sale to go through", is one of several distinct projections that GM supports the deal, according to DI, which continues:

"If necessary, we will be available to clarify any ambiguities in the transaction and participate in a teleconference with the EIB, the Debt Office and Saab Automobile Monday, April 25," reads the letter from GM to the EIB.

"Among the conditions were according to sources familiar with the process, a requirement that the EIB loan to Saab for 3.6 billion kronor will be terminated within 90 days as collateral for the Saab property is handed over to the Saab Automobile."

Bank: We've given Saab clearance - now it's up to GM

    Updated 2011-04-23 17:48
The battle between Saab Automobile and the European Investment Bank, EIB, escalated during the Holy Saturday. The EIB says that it gave notice to the Saab already on Thursday and that now is the GM brakes.
Eva Srejber, vice president of the European Investment Bank, EIB, argues in an interview with di.se that the bank gave notice to Saab Automobile on Thursday and that the ball is now at General Motors before Saab can get their cash gain of EUR 270 million through the transaction.

She rejects the image that it is the EIB, which puts a spoke in the wheel of Saab's rescue.

"There is so much misunderstanding out there in this case that we abandon a principle never to express an opinion on a particular client. We have given Saab clearance and now it is just General Motors, which remains before the funding agreement can be approved," said Eva Srejber but did not want to answer the question about the news to Saab was positive or negative.

"You should understand the meaning when I say that only GM that remains before the agreement can be approved," said Eva Srejber who did not want to answer any further questions or provide any clarifications.

Di's sources confirm that the Saab was an announcement late Thursday afternoon from the EIB with conditions such as Saab's management would not accept. Among the conditions were according to sources familiar with the process, including a requirement that the EIB loan to Saab for 3.6 billion kronor will be terminated within 90 days as collateral for the Saab property is handed over to the Saab Automobile.

"An unreasonable demand for a company that will provide subcontractors safe working conditions and confidence in Saab's pay no ability," said a source with access to the Saab and Antonov group that react to the Bank wants to put Saab in such a strong time pressure for such a large refinancing.

In addition, the EIB under Di's sources to Saab Automobile has violated the agreement between GM and Saab when it comes to keeping Vladimir Antonov outside ownership and influence in the Swedish bildöretaget. The EIB requires that Saab admits that at one point of agreement on new fiansiering through property sales.

EIBS gambit that it is GM that has been ruling in his hand questioned by several people familiar with the deal. GM reported several times in conversations with Saab have said that they approve the transaction, and Di has today received a letter read to the broadcast of GM's headquarters in Detroit to the Bank on the matter.

The letter deals with GM's vision of how to apply the Agreement on the control of the Saab Automobile concluded with Spyker Cars when GM sold the Saab Automnobile to them. The agreement deals primarily with how Vadim Antonov be held outside the Saab.

"GM will, if necessary, to remove all restrictions of that agreement if it becomes necessary to get the current property sale to go through", is one of several distinct projections that GM supports the deal.

"If necessary, we will be available to clarify any ambiguities in the transaction and participate in a teleconference with the EIB, the Debt Office and Saab Automobile Monday, April 25," reads the letter from GM to the EIB.

The battle for Saab's rescue continues.

Saab says output start up uncertain after EIB sets tough terms

STOCKHOLM, April 24 (Reuters) - Saab said on Saturday it was uncertain when it would be able to restart production after the European Investment Bank (EIB) set tough conditions on a deal aimed at giving the Swedish car maker a cash lifeline.

Saab, where output has been stopped for more than two weeks after it failed to pay suppliers' bills due to a cash crunch, had been hoping the EIB would go along with a deal for a liquidity injection after the Swedish state backed the agreement last week.

"We have agreement from the EIB, but with tough conditions," said Saab spokesman Eric Geers. He said the answer from the EIB made it "a little uncertain" when output could start up.

Saab has run into a cash crunch in its first year of ownership by Dutch niche carmaker Spyker after its 2010 sales fell short of forecasts.

It has halted production after suppliers went unpaid but Sweden has approved a financing deal which still needs approval from the EIB. [ID:nLDE73K0PM]

Under the deal, Russian financier Vladimir Antonov is to buy Saab's plant and other real estate and lease it back to the car maker. Antonov also eventually wants to become a shareholder in Saab.

Saab needs approval for the agreement from the Swedish state and the EIB as the EIB lent 400 million euros to the car maker, which Sweden guaranteed.

Saab has drawn 217 million euros of the loan, which under the new financing scheme will now be capped at 280 million euros.

Lars Carlstrom, a representative for Antonov in Sweden, also expressed worries about the EIB's answer, which he said amounted to totally new terms for the deal.

"This will cause problems with time that they (Saab) don't have," he told Reuters. "Saab hopes for communication with the EIB early on Tuesday."

Antonov himself expressed frustration on his Twitter feed.

"This is bullshit! sorry for my french:))," the comment said.

Both Geers and Carlstrom declined to say in what way the EIB terms were tough.

But a source familiar with the negotiations said one of the terms was that the EIB wanted Saab to repay the money it had borrowed within 90 days of the sale and leaseback deal being carried out.

EIB vice president Eva Srejber, speaking with Swedish news agency TT, also gave no details of the terms of the bank's answer, though she said former Saab owner General Motors, which still has preference shares, also had still to give its permission for the sale and leaseback deal.

But Carlstrom said GM has already given its approval.

Spyker rescued Saab from closure when it bought the Swedish firm from GM in early 2010. However, sales fell short in 2010, leaving it short of cash early this year. It currently plans to sell 80,000 cars in 2011 and 120,000 next year.

Antonov, a former shareholder in Spyker, was blocked the original deal after Swedish media reports of links to organised crime, which he has denied and from which he says he has cleared his name. He has also said GM is ready to let him back as a shareholder in Saab.

The EIB, Sweden and GM are expected to take a separate decision on Antonov's aim to take a stake of just under 30 percent in Saab, with the sale and leaseback deal supposed to take place first. (Reporting by Patrick Lannin in Stockholm; Editing by Robert Birsel) (Created by Robert Birsel)

    And so the story continues...

The requirements from the European Investment Bank has made for Saab's real estate to be sold to Vladimir Antonov is unreasonable, "said Antonov Swedish spokesman to P4 West.

Unless the European Investment Bank (EIB) changes its requirements the deal can not be implemented, "said Lars Carlstrom, a spokesman in Sweden for the Russian businessman Vladimir Antonov.

He would not tell why the EIB's demands are unacceptable to Saab and Antonov, only that it involves a huge change from the proposals submitted to the EIB.

According to Lars Carlstrom Antonov tried to contact the EIB to discuss the requirements but have been told that it is not possible until after the Easter weekend.

If the transaction can not be the means according to Lars Carlström, Saab end up in a difficult position. But he also says that exploring alternative ways to find money for Saab.

The EIB requires that Saab says the entire loan

Lars Carlstrom, a spokesman for Vladimir Antonov, confirmed to TTELA on Easter Sunday that the EIB's "unreasonable demands" of information that they want to Saab says the entire loan of 3.6 billion and pay the debt within 90 days of the transaction will go through.

    - Yes, it is entirely proper. And the only explanation for such a requirement here, is that you want Saab to go bankrupt, "said Carlstrom.

To implement the deal he sees as very difficult at present. He is very disappointed and fierce in their criticism of the EIB.

    - It feels like the EIB are just out to destroy the company. One wonders if they are prepared to take the responsibility, which means that 10 000 jobs in western Sweden at risk, "said Carlstrom.

Representatives of the Antonov has tried to connect with the EIB to discuss the requirements but then been told that it is not possible until after the Easter weekend.

In waiting to take up the discussion also says Carlstrom examining alternative possibilities to find the money to Saab.

    - We are working on alternative solutions to resolve the issue. We have 100 lawyers working with the EIB issue, "says Lars Carlstrom.

We have 100 lawyers working with the EIB issue, whaahahaha!!
