(BTZ)

Logica wins HR administration outsourcing contract with Channel 4

    06 May 2009

Logica to provide HR Administration & payroll service on Oracle HCM Solution

Logica, a leading IT and business services company has been awarded a contract with Channel 4 to support their employees with an outsourced HR administration and payroll service for the next five years. Channel 4 made the decision to outsource its HR administration to Logica as part of a company-wide programme to reduce costs and streamline its operations. The contract builds on an existing 17 year relationship with the company.

Under the terms of this partnership, Logica will implement Oracle’s payroll application and integrate it with the company’s existing Oracle HR system to achieve a single and unified HR systems solution. Logica will also manage the transition from the current bureau payroll service it provides to Channel 4, to a fully managed service. The new contract will also see Logica manage approximately 25 of Channel 4’s transactional HR processes such as joiners & leavers, employee changes and absence administration.

The implementation was phased over several months with the service going live in April 2009. Benefits include:

·Cost savings and increased efficiency through more automation across HR and Finance

·Minimal upfront investment and switching fixed costs for variable costs

·Single source for employee data, reduced duplication of effort and manual intervention

·Comprehensive reporting to facilitate better employee information

·Leverage existing investment in Oracle HR and fit with future technology strategy

·Scale service up or down quickly to cope with changing business dynamics

Commenting on the contract Gemma Dowson, Senior IT Project Manager at Channel 4 said: “Logica has a proven track record in delivering new and innovative ideas to improve our processes and achieve greater efficiencies that align with our business and technology strategies. We believe that with Logica’s consistent level of support and delivery we will achieve our business aspirations and look forward to further strengthening our relationship.”

Commenting on the new contract, Patricia Taylor, Director of Logica’s HR and Payroll business in the UK, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Channel 4. This partnership demonstrates the trust that our customers continue to place with us in being an extension of their company”.

Taylor added: “Within the current economic climate, it is essential that clients can depend on service providers to deliver the flexibility in the way services are procured and financed. Our pay-as-you-go model is designed to provide a rapid return on investment for our clients, particularly when we can leverage their strategic enterprise platform, in this case, Oracle.

This helps them see a clear business case to continue to invest in those areas that help them get the best out of their most valuable asset – their talent.”

Logica provides payroll outsourcing and HR services to more than 850 organisations, across a range of platforms including SAP, Oracle and the company’s own developed solutions. This latest contract follows other recent HR & payroll outsourcing contracts with KPN, Martinair and PwC.

Unimills kiest Logica voor verbetering IT-landschap

    07 mei 2009

(SDW)

Deutsche Bank and Logica partner to deliver Plug and Play SEPA Connector
    12 May 2009
Deutsche Bank’s Global Transaction Banking (GTB) division, one of the leaders in payments clearing and settlement across all major currencies, and Logica, a leading IT and business services company, have today announced their strategic alliance to launch an outsourced solution for SEPA Direct Debits (SDD)*1. Powered by Logica’s All Payments Solution (LAPS), Deutsche Bank will combine a new SEPA Connector offering with its existing, market leading SEPA processing solutions to provide its financial institution clients with low cost ‘plug and play’ SEPA functionality. The SEPA Connector will initially be targeted at debtor banks requiring a solution for complying with mandatory SDD reachability requirements in readiness for the November 2010 deadline, but also supports SEPA Credit Transfers (SCT)*2. The combined offering is available now and will be demonstrated at the International Payments Summit today in London.

The introduction of the SDD scheme, alongside the Payments Services Directive (PSD)*3, presents significant business and technology challenges for banks, The SEPA Connector is an easily implemented off-the-shelf product designed to address these challenges. Additionally, this model provides a roadmap for banks to either move to a broader partnering or outsourced service for payments processing with Deutsche Bank and Logica, or establish their own payments infrastructure upgrade using Logica’s All Payments Solution.

In the first phase of this partnership, the SEPA Connector will enable debtor banks to view SDD transactions, manage rejects and returns, as well as upload files for further validation and processing. Deutsche Bank will also provide connectivity to EBA Clearing*4 and its bilateral partners.

Michael Mueller, Managing Director of Wholesale Solutions, Global Transaction Banking at Deutsche Bank, said: “Attaining SEPA reachability and complying with SEPA Direct Debits places further strain on legacy technology for many banks. Through our partnership with Logica, we can provide our financial institution clients with access to SEPA clearing services based on best of breed technology. The SEPA Connector forms an integral part of our strategy for expanding the provision of outsourced services, while also presenting a strong business case for banks.”

Nigel Turner, Business Development Director, Payments at Logica, commented: “The parallels between Deutsche Bank and Logica in terms of SEPA progression make this partnership a powerful move. With regulatory pressure mounting and the business drivers becoming more apparent, the attraction of outsourced SEPA services will increase. The SEPA Connector enables banks to achieve SEPA reachability without having to make immediate major investment in infrastructure – giving them more time to plan for payments transformation. Having achieved economies of scope and scale, Deutsche Bank is well-positioned to deliver this service using our high volume payments hub, which has the necessary flexibility to support outsource models. We look forward to working together.”

Deutsche Bank already uses Logica’s payments hub to support its operations in 15 countries, which further enables easy roll-out of the SEPA Connector to the bank’s financial institution clients.

Imtech partner in first European test of new traffic technology

    May 12, 2009

Gouda, the Netherlands - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) will today carry out an initial European test with ERICTO-ITS Europe, the Municipality of Helmond, TNO and Logica using an innovative new traffic technology for high-tech communication between vehicles and between vehicles and existing technical traffic systems.

Imtech is represented by Peek Traffic (Imtech Infra), the Imtech mobility specialist.

The test will try out innovative new applications and services developed as part of the projects called 'Co-operative Vehicle Infrastructure Systems' (CVIS) and 'Co-operative Systems for Road Safety' (SAFESPOT). These two pan-European research initiatives sponsored by the European Union are being co-ordinated by ERICTO-ITS and Centro Ricerche FIAT of Italy.

Better mobility and fewer road traffic accidents The purpose of the test is to demonstrate that new traffic technology enables new services to be offered to motorists, road hauliers and fleet managers. The vehicles and traffic infrastructure will generate and share real-time information about the immediate surroundings and other road users. This will enhance mobility (shorter delays, lower costs through fewer traffic jams, lower fuel consumption and lower emissions of polluting substances) and improve road safety (fewer accidents).

Objectives of CVIS and SAFESPOT The objective of CVIS is to design, develop and test a communication platform that allows vehicles to communicate with each other and with nearby roadside systems (i.e. existing traffic technology already installed alongside, below or above the road surface). The CVIS platform provides interfaces for mobile communication over short and long distances, innovative localisation capabilities and support for software management. The SAFESPOT project is studying how inter-working between intelligent vehicles and intelligent infrastructures can help avoid road traffic accidents by identifying potentially dangerous situations early on and alerting drivers to them.

Imtech: partner in CVIS and SAFESPOT TNO and Logica are the test site leaders in the Netherlands for the SAFESPOT and CVIS technologies and applications, respectively. TNO is focusing on research into vehicle systems and user behaviour. Logica is concentrating on the support centre needed for data communication and on developing and integrating new applications for it. Imtech (Peek Traffic) is a partner in both projects, with a focus on the co-operative roadside systems in combination with existing traffic systems like traffic lights and motorway information boards. The test site is located at Helmond. The Helmond region is one of the Netherlands' mobility hotspots where the government and business community are co-operating with each other closely. Imtech regards this European test as a good stepping stone towards future implementation of similar technologies in and around countless European cities.

Slimme verkeerstechnologie maakt de weg veiliger
    12 mei 2009, 18:29 | ANP
