    Farmaceut Valeant moest het opnieuw ontgelden na het verlies van 19 procent op woensdag, toen berichten over omzetfraude naar buiten kwamen. Er zou een geheime relatie bestaan tussen Valeant, dochterbedrijf Philador en een klant van Philador met de naam R&O Pharmacy. Citron Research uitte woensdag het vermoeden dat Philador en R&O één en dezelfde zijn, waardoor Valeant zijn producten verscheept naar een eigen tak en daarbij wel opbrengsten in de boeken zet.

    Valeant sprak de beschuldiging donderdag opnieuw tegen en kredietbeoordelaar S&P liet weten geen reden te zien om zijn kredietwaardigheidsbeoordeling van het bedrijf te wijzigen. Beleggers leken daar, getuige het koersverlies van ruim 9 procent anders over te denken.

    Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. said it plans to hold a conference call at 8 a.m. EDT on Monday to address recent criticism of its business practices that has sent its stock price tumbling this week.
    Valeant said it would "lay out the facts" regarding allegations brought by short-seller Citron Research in a note on Wednesday. The report fanned concerns about Valeant's accounting, raising questions about its use of certain pharmacies to supply its drugs and its accounting for the dispensing.
    Valeant said the allegations "contain numerous errors, unsupported speculation and incorrect interpretations of facts and circumstances." The call will include numerous Valeant executives, members of its audit and risk committee and board members. It will also post a slide presentation.
    The short-seller's report sent Valeant's New York Stock Exchange-listed shares down as much as 40% on Wednesday before the stock pared some losses after analysts expressed support and shareholder William Ackman jumped in to buy more stock.
    But shares continued to slide on Thursday and were recently down 11.5% in afternoon trading, bringing the loss for the past month to over 50%.
    Citron questioned Valeant's relationship with specialty pharmacies called Philidor Rx Services LLC and R&O Pharmacy Inc., which help patients fill prescriptions for some Valeant medicines and pay for out-of-pocket costs. Many drug makers use such pharmacies to dispense drugs that must be stored and used appropriately to avoid side effects. Analysts say Valeant and some others also use them to prevent health insurers from steering patients to rival treatments.
    In a response on Wednesday, Valeant disputed the Citron report in strong terms and called its accounting sound.
    "Valeant has a contractual relationship with Philidor and properly accounts for sales to, and inventory at, Philidor and Philidor's network pharmacies. We are confident in our full compliance with all applicable accounting rules, regulations and laws," it said.

    Ben benieuwd of ze maandag wat vertrouwen terugpakken na de bijeenkomst. Zou denk ik ook dinsdag nog wat stijging bij Pharming in de hand kunnen werken..
