    Why not?
    Article II of the Constitution empowers Congress to choose the timing of the general election. An 1845 federal law fixed the date as the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

    It would take a change in federal law to move that date. That would mean legislation enacted by Congress, signed by the president and subject to challenge in the courts.

    How likely is it that the November election will be delayed?
    Did we mention that the House of Representatives, which is controlled by Democrats; the Senate, which is controlled by Republicans; and President Trump would all have to approve such legislation?

    To call that unlikely would be an understatement.

    Even if all of that happened, there would not be much flexibility in choosing an alternate election date: The Constitution mandates that the new Congress must be sworn in on Jan. 3, and that the new president’s term must begin on Jan. 20. Those dates cannot be changed just by the passage of normal legislation.

    A federal appeals court in Washington will take a second look a judge’s effort to scrutinize the Justice Department’s decision to drop its case against President Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

    The full U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit agreed Thursday to revisit U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan’s plan to examine the politically charged matter, reviving the unusual case testing the limits of the judiciary’s power to check the executive branch.

    The court’s brief order set oral argument for August 11.

    Sullivan requested a rehearing by a full complement of judges after a divided three-judge panel ordered him to immediately dismiss the case and said Sullivan was wrong to appoint a retired federal judge to argue against the government’s move to undo Flynn’s guilty plea.

    Ik heb zo het idee dat er hele machtige mensen en misschien wel rechters hem knijpen. Eerst wordt de oproep van uitstel van Maxwell verworpen en nu weer aan genomen. Dus uitstel. Hopelijk dat het dan toch aanstaande maandag openbaar wordt. Maar ik verbaast mij nergens meer over.

    Gisteren oordeelde een rechter dat het bewijs vandaag zou worden ontzegeld in een lang beslechte civiele zaak met Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein, een van hun slachtoffers, en andere niet nader genoemde personen. In het proces, verwierp de rechter het argument van Maxwell dat het bewijsmateriaal verzegeld zou moeten blijven. Maar nu is er een nieuwe wending.

    Nu heeft de rechter ingestemd met het uitstellen van de vrijlating van het bewijs, zodat Ghislaine Maxwell kan een beroep indienen, wat betekent dat we niets onverzegeld vandaag te zien. Echter, het bewijs zal worden ontzegeld op maandag als het hof van beroep niet is gesprongen in tegen die tijd.

    Dus kort van een rechter van beroep die een noodbevel morgen of in het weekend, zullen we het bewijs te zien op maandag na alles. Ondertussen, Ghislaine Maxwell blijft rotten in de gevangenis in afwachting van het proces over sekshandel kosten.

    Ik vroeg niet de uitslagen maar naar polls die de virtuele stemmen proberen te peilen.
    Die sluiten immers veel en veel eerder dan de verkiezingsdag zelf.
    In sommige landen zijn daarom polls dan niet toegestaan om de beïnvloeding op het stemgedrag van de verkiezingsdag.
    Maar eigenlijk dus ja en ja. Het mag zoals je eerder aangaf.

    President Trump : Doe de scholen weer open. Als scholen dicht blijven, dan moet het geld van de school maar naar de ouders. Die kunnen met dat geld hun kinderen naar een (andere) school van hun keuze sturen.

    Volgens Trump is het sluiten van scholen een reden dat mensen niet naar hun werk kunnen. En dat zorgt voor economische schade, waardoor er ook doden vallen.
