Gisteren 49.9 aangetikt, 1 dezer dagen moeten we toch boven de 50 geraken.

Vestas Wind Systems A/S (VWS), the world’s biggest turbine maker jumped as much as 4.7 percent, the biggest increase in the Nasdaq OMX Copenhagen 20 index.

“The share benefits from many investors having closed short bets on the company recently.”

April 8 (Reuters) - Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S VWS.CO won an order for turbines with total capacity of 299 megawatts (MW) from a project in Alberta, Canada. Delivery is scheduled for the second half of the year, the company said on Monday. The deal brings the total capacity of orders so far this year to 570 MW. The wind power sector has been hit hard by overcapacity, a faltering global economy and a cut in subsidies for renewable energy by cash-strapped governments, prompting Vestas to axe jobs, stop non-profitable projects and shut factories. But Vestas in February flagged an improvement in profitability this year. In February Vestas forecast 2013 turbine shipments of 4-5 gigawatts. 1 gigawatt is 1000 MW.

Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas VWS.CO and Belgian supermarket retailer Delhaize DELB.BR are among major European companies to have been targeted by short sellers betting against their stock prices ahead of their earnings, according to data from Markit. Markit measures the short interest in a company by the amount of the company's stock which is out on loan. It calculates that Vestas has 13.4 percent of its shares out on loan, making it the most shorted European company, while Delhaize has 11.1 percent of its shares out on loan. Short-selling is the practice of betting on a price to fall. Traders who take out short bets borrow shares and sell them in the hope of being able to buy the stock back at a cheaper price before returning it to its original owner, while making a profit from the difference. Vestas is due to post a first quarter operating loss of 98.3 million euros ($128.9 million) on May 8, according to a Reuters poll.

The yield on Vestas Wind Systems A/S (VWS)’ 2015 bond fell to the lowest level in 15 months in Copenhagen trading as investors scaled back bets the Danish wind turbine maker will default after first-quarter cash flow improved.

The yield on Vestas’ 600 million-euro ($785 million) 4.625 percent bond dropped to as low as 8.37 percent, the lowest since February 2012. The bond yielded 8.38 percent at 9:58 a.m. local time compared with yesterday’s close of 9 percent.

Vestas is cutting costs and eliminating jobs to return to profitability after losing money as increased competition depressed prices across the industry. The Aarhus, Denmark-based company said today its first-quarter cash loss improved by 235 million euros to a 60 million-euro loss. That beat an average estimate for a loss of 184 million euros in a Bloomberg survey of five analysts.

“Free cash flow was better than consensus expectations, which bodes well for full-year cash flow performance,” Patrik Setterberg, a Copenhagen-based analyst at Nordea Bank AB, said in a note today. “The turnaround process seems to be on track.”

Vestas’ Bloomberg default risk rating, a measure based on the company’s reported earnings, operating performance and market information, has dropped to 0.01 percent, compared with more than 2.5 percent in November.

Vestas shares jumped by more than 8 percent shortly after the market opening and traded up 6.2 percent by 0708 GMT, against a 0.6 percent increase in the Copenhagen stock exchange's benchmark index.

"It is better than I expected," said Sydbank analyst Jacob Pedersen. "There is nothing in this report that indicates that they have problems turning around the company, quite the contrary."

The company's intake of firm and unconditional wind turbine orders was 644 megawatts, exceeding an average 504 MW forecast in the poll.

First-quarter revenue was unchanged at 1.1 billion euros, in line with analysts' forecasts.

It stood by its forecast for positive free cashflow this year as well as an underlying EBIT margin of at least 1 percent.

The company is seeking to regain its leading position in the wind-turbine market, having lost the top spot in 2012 after 12 years, according to Navigant Consulting Inc. (NCI)’s BTM Consult unit, which gave General Electric Co. (GE) the lead.
Make Consulting said the Danish company still ranked first, while Bloomberg New Energy Finance had Vestas and GE in a statistical tie.
