    HONG KONG, May 20 (Reuters) - World No. 4 PC maker Lenovo Group Ltd (0992.HK: Quote, Profile, Research) is likely to post a doubling in quarterly earnings, helped by a one-off gain from selling its cellphone arm, and is expected to weather a U.S. slowdown because of its dominant position in the resilient China market.

    Analysts on average had expected Lenovo to post a net profit of $451.2 million. The latest results included a $65 million one-off gain from the sale of its cellular handset business.
    Lenovo, maker of the ThinkPad brand of notebook PCs, said sales for the year totaled $16.35 billion, up 17% from $13.98 billion. The company declared a final dividend of HK$0.128 a share, up from HK$0.028 a year earlier.
    "The increased adoption of notebook computers worldwide continues to be the primary driving force behind the growth of the worldwide PC market," the company said in a statement filed with Hong Kong securities regulators Thursday. "Lenovo is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this trend."
    Notebook computers made up 58% of Lenovo's total sales.
    The computer maker said the greater China market accounted for 37% of sales, followed by the Americas with 28%, and Europe, the Middle East and Africa with 22%.
    Ahead of the announcement, Lenovo's shares closed 2.9% lower in Hong Kong trading.

    Ik heb net zitten shoppen voor een ultraportable. Mijn visie (als klant, dus niet als aandeelhouder):

    Apple Airbook: de bekende onzin, in de praktijk natturlijk helemaal niet handig al die losse dingen en draden (zie het filmpje van Artist op Youtube). En dan natuurlijk ook dat het een Apple is...

    Lenovo TP X300: Leuk van binnen maar hoe lelijk!! Echt monsterlijk. Ook de levensduur van de batterij valt vies tegen.

    Sony Vaio VGN TZ31: ziet er het mooiste uit, maar is van binnen al een beetje 'ouderwets' (qua snelheid processor, geheugen en hard disk). Lange levensduur batterij is echt een pre!

    Toshiba Portege R500 X11Z: Ziet er een beetje saai uit, maar wat een wonder van techniek! Weegt slechts 980 gram, je weet niet wat je voelt. Heeft daarbij wel een batterij die 6 uur mee gaat, en een DVD brander (de dunste ter wereld). Snel geheugen, flinke schijf (160GB), een prima motor onder de kap. En dan tot slot een heel bijzonder scherm. Zelfs in het volle zonlicht zie je nog alles wat er op staat (transflective TFT). Echt een wonder.

    Mijn keuze is geworden de Toshiba. T'is maar dat u het weet...

    Ik heb sinds een week de sony tz31. Geweldig ding hoor, komt op 1550 euro want sony geeft 200 euro terug.

    Snelheid valt me alles mee, ben een p4 2.6 gewend en deze duo 1.2 is gewoon sneller.

    Batterij gaat 4,5 uur mee.

    De lenovo vond ik idd een beetje saai en duur maar wel mooi dat er solid state schijf inzit.

    als ik het goed begrijp is het dividend met meer dan 100% gestegen.

    iemand een idee wanneer dat op mijn rekening gestort wordt.

    het vorige Proposed final dividend was 2.8 HK

    Die dingen zijn allemaal duur ;)
    Ik vond de sony tx31 nog wel meevallen, krijg nog 200 terug van sony en kom dan op 1575 ofzo.

    De Lenovo heeft wel iets meer in huis

    Wel wennen met z'n kleintje. Was een Acer 17" van 6 kilo gewend en zit nu heel anders achter m'n desk waardoor me nek pijn doet, boehhoe ;)
