    ^^ vv

Vandaag zijn de US beurzen (gelukkig) dicht. Hopelijk is men dit morgen weer vergeten... ;)

Nikola suspects 'foul play' in fire at EV-truck maker's headquarters
Pras Subramanian Fri, June 23, 2023 at 7:43 PM GMT+2

Shocking news out of Phoenix Friday morning as a fire damaged multiple battery electric trucks at Nikola Motors (NKLA) headquarters — and the company says "foul play" is suspected.

Via its official Twitter account, Nikola said a vehicle was seen in the area of the affected trucks prior to the incident, and official investigation is underway. Nikola also said no one was injured in the fire.

The Phoenix Fire department’s official Twitter account posted video of the aftermath of the fires, showing crews and hazardous materials teams extinguishing the flames. According to Bloomberg, the fire department found four trucks on fire and required 50 firefighters to contain the fire. The fire department has not determined whether the fire may have been deliberately set.

Friday’s fire is the latest piece of tough news for Nikola, following on the heels of last week’s disclosure that the company would lay off around 270 workers. That followed Nikola's May announcement that it was selling its stake in a European manufacturing joint venture with trucking giant Iveco Group, with Iveco remaining a "key supplier” for Nikola.

Last month in an interview with Yahoo Finance, CEO Michael Lohscheller said the company was forecasting production of "between 375 and 500 trucks" for the year, however it’s possible Friday’s incident at headquarters may have an impact on that guidance.

Nikola said in its first quarter financial report that it produced 63 Tre battery electric trucks and delivered 31 to dealers. Nikola reported an uptick in retail sales with 33 in the quarter, and plans to temporarily pause production at its Coolidge, Arizona, plant in order to modify the assembly line to accommodate both hydrogen fuel cell and battery electric assembly. The company is also leaning more towards boosting production of its hydrogen fuel cell trucks, and assembling battery electric models on a “build-to-order” basis.

    Nikola ziet verkoop stijgen

Nikola Secures $41.9 Million Grant, Accelerating Zero-Emissions Infrastructure for Heavy-Duty Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Trucks in California

    Published July 5, 2023
    www.nikolamotor.com/press_releases/ni...

    Published July 13, 2023

BayoTech to purchase up to 50 Nikola Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles for zero-emission hydrogen transport
Nikola to purchase low-carbon hydrogen from BayoTech’s Missouri and California hydrogen hubs and up to 10 BayoTech HyFill™ transports for bulk hydrogen delivery to customer refueling stations
PHOENIX – July 13, 2023 – Nikola Corporation (Nasdaq: NKLA), a global leader in zero-emissions transportation and energy supply and infrastructure solutions, via its HYLA brand, and BayoTech, Inc. (“BayoTech”), an innovator in hydrogen production, transportation and storage solutions, announced an agreement to advance reliable hydrogen supply for zero-emission commercial fuel cell electric vehicle fleets. The strategic supply agreement includes Nikola Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks, BayoTech HyFill™ bulk hydrogen transport trailers, and hydrogen produced at BayoTech’s distributed network of hubs.

As the anchor hydrogen offtake customer, Nikola expects to take delivery of low-carbon hydrogen produced by BayoTech commencing in Missouri this year and California in 2024. Bosch teams with Nikola in $2.8B hydrogen deal
    Michael ElkinsStock Markets
    Published Jul 13, 2023 09:02AM ET

German engineering company, Bosch, revealed Thursday that the company is investing almost €2.5 billion ($2.8B) in hydrogen fuel cell technology from 2021 to 2026 and has chosen to partner with US electric truck firm Nikola (NASDAQ:NKLA) who will act as the pilot customer of the modules.

According to Bosch, by 2030, approximately 20% of newly manufactured trucks weighing six metric tons or more are expected to be equipped with fuel-cell powertrains.

Bosch's CEO, Stefan Hartung, expressed that the company is embracing the potential of hydrogen and experiencing growth in this area. The technology giant is aiming to generate €5B (£4.2bn) in sales of hydrogen technology by 2030.

“Here in Stuttgart-Feuerbach, in the plant whose history goes back further than any other Bosch plant, the hydrogen future is about to happen,” Hartung declared at its Tech Day conference. “Bosch knows its way around hydrogen, and Bosch is growing with hydrogen.”

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles offer the advantage of quick refueling and extended range compared to battery-electric vehicles, although they face challenges related to infrastructure and lower energy efficiency.

“Only with hydrogen can there be a climate-neutral world…. the company therefore strongly advocates the establishment of a hydrogen economy, and is stepping up its investments in hydrogen,” the company said.

Production of Bosch’s fuel-cell power module will begin at its Feuerbach plant on the outskirts of Stuttgart and in Chongqing in China.

Bosch’s chief today called on German and European policymakers to “step up the pace of hydrogen production in the European Union (EU),” and use the tech in “all sectors of the economy.”

Deze vrachtauto's zijn krankzinnig duur en dus zullen er slechts een paar verkocht worden.

Deze deal gaat Nikola niet redden.
