    RaboBank: ‘Demand Revival’ For Fertilizer

In its semi-annual global fertilizer outlook, Rabobank’s global farm inputs team says there has been a “demand revival” in the market. Prices have been lifted off ten-year lows—significantly supported by Brazil and India, which have been two of the top three importers of fertilizer in the past five years. In the U.S., an early harvest and increase in commodity prices in the fourth quarter led to bullish demand.

However, the Rabobank team expects the pricing strength to tail off in the second quarter of 2021, when northern hemisphere purchases decline.

“Once seasonal demand from the northern hemisphere subsides, markets will again be exposed to heavy supplies,” the report states.

One segment of the market to watch is urea. Rabobank cites the International Fertilizer Association expecting a 4.5% production increase being mismatched with only a 1% forecasted increase in demand.

The report also details how potash markets could sustain positive growth as the U.S. and Brazilian markets show continued demand. And of note, Belarus is the second largest exporter of potash, and is currently experiencing political turmoil, which if it escalates could bring about further increases in prices of potash globally.

Vrij negatief voor de Urea prijzen. Weet iemand hoe het resultaat van OCI is opgebouwd, kijkend naar de verschillende producten die ze leveren?

Hier nog eentje lijkt veel op de rabo analise.
    A world of opportunity
Published by Pippa Luck, Editorial Assistant
    World Fertilizer, Tuesday, 29 December 2020 09:00

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and coincidental calamities, one may be tempted to resort to a crystal ball to predict what will happen to the global fertilizer market over the coming year. But market fundamentals remain surprisingly strong, and beneficial outcomes may be in the offing.

    A world of opportunity

    Nitrogen
Ammonia is the largest chemical manufactured in the world, with almost 160 million tpy being produced. By far, the largest use is nitrogen fertilizer.

In comparison to a relatively dismal 2019, analysts and government agencies expect bumper crops in many parts of the world in 2020. For example, in August 2020, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) released an optimistic outlook for US corn and soybeans crops. It predicted a record high of 15.3 billion bushels of corn, 12% higher than 2019. Soybean fields were expected to yield 4.42 billion bushels, up 25% from the previous year. While acreages under cultivation have increased slightly, the USDA attributed the amounts to higher bushels per harvested acre.

Record crops are good news for fertilizers. In its 2Q20 quarterly report, Eurochem noted that flat ammonia prices in 1Q20 were weak, primarily due to decreased demand for industrial ammonia. Urea fared better, with strong US demand supporting prices. The company sees strong urea demand from India and Latin America throughout 2H20 and into 2021, as US corn acreage surges.

The spate of Greenfield construction that marked much of the previous decade has largely dissipated, but several major nitrogen projects are still underway. Gulf Coast Ammonia (GCA) has begun construction of its state-of-the-art ammonia plant in Texas City, US. Completion of the 1.3 million tpy plant and adjacent deep-water port is expected by mid-2023. Production of nitrogen-based fertilizers and specialty chemicals will be targeted both domestically and internationally.

ANWIL’s expansion of its nitrogen capacity at its complex in Wloclawek, Poland, has reached the midway point. Three new modules – a 1200 tpy nitric acid unit, an ammonium nitrate solution unit, and a drum granulation unit – will increase total fertilizer capacity from 966 000 tpy to 1.46 million tpy when they come on-stream in 2022. In order to achieve optimum environmental performance, the company will use Thyssenkrupp’s EnviNOx technology to convert nitrogen oxide into nitrogen, oxygen and water, thus reducing emissions by around 4200 tpy (the equivalent of 1 million tpy of carbon dioxide).

    In Egypt...

Company is sold out on rising demand and prices... Q2 will be pushing stock through the roof as the Q1 is sold out on discounted prices... that means PERFECT TURNAROUND. look the chart and you will understand that $40 in the summer is almost guaranteed :-))
Het kan nu toch spannend worden in de sector,nu fertilizers zelfs schaars worden.

Intrepid Potash spotlights strong price increases, sees strong 2021

Intrepid Potash (NYSE:IPI) +4.8% pre-market after reporting strong improvements in the fertilizer market in recent weeks.
The company says potash prices into agricultural markets have increased $90/ton, or 31%, above 2020 summer-fill pricing after a $40/ton increase announced in December, and current potash prices into agricultural markets is $65/ton above the January 2020 winter-fill price.
Prices for the company's Trio specialty fertilizer into agricultural markets has climbed $60/ton, or 27%, above 2020 summer-fill pricing after a $20/ton rise in December, and current Trio pricing into agricultural markets is $50/ton above the January 2020 winter-fill price.
Intrepid Potash forecasts Q1 and FY 2021 water volumes will exceed the comparable year-ago periods in the Intrepid and NGL Energy Partners three-ranch area of mutual interest; current indications from operators for water needs during 2021 exceed the total water available for sale under Intrepid and NGL's joint marketing agreement.
"A strong agricultural commodity environment across a wide range of crops that includes corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, coffee and sugar, combined with a reduced potash supply has driven the improvements in the fertilizer market in recent weeks," the company says. "We continue to see good value across the fertilizer supply chain and have already sold select spot tons at the higher price levels."
Other fertilizer names will be on watch today, including MOS, NTR, CF
Intrepid Potash has "nowhere to go but up," Carleton Hanson writes in a bullish analysis posted last month on Seeking Alpha.

    Beste allen,

Fijn uiteinde... En een mooi 2021, hopelijk ook voor OCI
