   Ze hebben in 2005 Gaza terug gegeven (land voor vrede heette dat toen). Wellicht met het idee, klein beginnen en dan later volgt de Westbank ook...maar dat werkte dus niet. Als ze nu straks de Westbank zouden geven en de 2 statenoplossing is een feit, dan blijft er een zeer lastig te verdedigen Israel over.

   In 2017 heeft er zowaar een kleine verlichting plaatsgevonden, maar zoals geheel in de traditie van de Islam (men hoeft de waarheid niet te spreken (tegen ongelovigen) als dat in het belang is van de Islam), sluit ook de 'verlichting' uit 2017 de vernietiging van Israel zeker niet uit.

   The UN Security Council on Wednesday failed to adopt a Brazil-led draft resolution that would have called for humanitarian pauses in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict to allow full access for aid to the Gaza strip after the U.S. vetoed the text.
   
   The U.S., a permanent member of the UNSC and a close ally of Israel, said it is disappointed the resolution makes no mention of Israel's rights of self-defence.
   
   The 15-nation Council met to vote on the draft resolution that was proposed by Council President Brazil.
   
   While 12 Council members voted in favour of the resolution, Russia and Britain abstained. The resolution could not be adopted because of a veto cast by the U.S.
   
   This was the second time in two days that the Council failed to adopt a resolution on the situation in the Middle East.
   
   On Monday, the Security Council rejected a draft resolution proposed by Russia on the situation in Gaza that would have called for a humanitarian ceasefire but did not mention the militant group Hamas which launched an audacious attack against Israel on October 7.
   
   The Brazil-led resolution would have firmly condemned all violence and hostilities against civilians and all acts of terrorism, and unequivocally rejected and condemned the heinous terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7.
   
   The resolution would have also called for humanitarian pauses to allow full, rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access for United Nations humanitarian agencies and their implementing partners, and encouraged the establishment of humanitarian corridors and other initiatives for the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians.
   
   It would have also called for the rescission of the order by Israel for civilians and UN staff to evacuate all areas in Gaza north of the Wadi Gaza and relocate in the southern part of the strip.
   
   U.S. Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield, in her explanation of the vote, said that the Council is meeting at a time when President Joe Biden is in Israel.
   
   His trip is a “clear demonstration of the fact that the United States is actively engaging at the highest levels: to secure the release of hostages; to prevent the conflict from spreading; to stress the need to protect civilian lives; to address the humanitarian crisis facing Palestinians in Gaza; and to demonstrate to the Israeli people that the United States stands with them in their time of sorrow and need.”
   
   She said the U.S. is “disappointed” that the Brazil-led resolution made no mention of Israel's rights of self-defence.

   Natuurlijk hebben ze deze resolutie geblokkeerd
   
   Geen melding over het teruggeven van de gegijzelden, die ontvoerd zijn naar de Gaza strook
   
   Ze willen in die resolutie dat Israel zijn advies aan de burgers van Noordelijk Gaza om het gebied te verlaten zou intrekken
   
   In de resolutie staat ook niet dat Israel het recht heeft zichzelf te verdedigen
   Er zijn wel 1.400 Israëliërs gedood en 200 gegijzelde Israëliërs in Israel
   En na triomfantelijk deze verpletterende nederlaag , die Hamas Israel heeft toegebracht, op het moment dat Israel vergelding zoekt, huilend roepen dat er een staakt het vuren moet komen en dan nog Israel ten schande maken dat het daartoe niet bereid is.
   
   In de resolutie staat ook niet dat Hamas zijn burgers gebruikt als menselijk schild
   
   Kortom,
   Eerst kwam Rusland met een resolutie waarbij de aanval van Hamas, niet vermeld werd --die werd afgewezen
   Daarna kwam Putin's vazal Brazilië met een nieuwe resolutie maar met bovenstaande verzuimingen
   
   Het is geen spelletje bij de Verenigde Naties om gelikte resoluties, pro Hamas en anti Israel in te dienen
   
   Tuurlijk heeft de US deze resoluties in de VN van de hand gewezen
   
   En het is nergens voor nodig het woord apartheid steuners te gebruiken
   
   Hamas heeft zijn gebied in de Gaza strook en andere Palestijnen hebben hun gebied op de West Bank en Oost Jeruzalem
   Daar kunnen ze leven en hun beleid uitvoeren
   Israel heeft zijn eigen gebied en doet daar zijn eigen leven en beleid
   
   Heeft niets met apartheid te maken want ieder heeft zijn eigen territorium waar. het kan laten en doen wat het wilt
   
   Ik krijg de indruk dat je op een sociaal platform zit waar dit soort schreeuwende praat gemeengoed is en menigeen het dagblad The Hindu en de Hindustan Times leest ( in Nederland ? , moei niet gekker worden )

   Wel weer heel opvallend dat bepaalde groepen direct massaal de straat opgaan en onrust en trammelant veroorzaken zonder dat er bewijs is wie verantwoordelijk is voor het bombardement op het ziekenhuis.

    De USA wil een soort tegenkracht tegen Iran, in die zin snap ik het veto.
    
    Het is wel olie op het vuur van het conflict. De wereldwijde woede tijdens pro-Palestijnse demonstraties en ongeregeldheden als een gevolg o.a., het breekt de geweldsspiraal niet........ Israël gaat straffeloos verder Palestijnen in haar gehaktmolen te vermorzelen.

    Zou een wapenstilstand (onder voorwaarden) wellicht helpen?
    Ik begrijp Hamas wel, de Palestijnen worden disproportioneel hard aangepakt, in mijn ogen, in hun ogen. Israël heeft het narratief van de aanslag bij het ziekenhuis tegen. Terwijl ze daar waarschijnlijk niet hebben gebombardeerd.
    Hier kan Israël het voortouw nemen. Het laten voortduren van de agressie lost niets op, sterker nog, Israël gaat de prijs op den duur dubbel betalen.
