    AMSTERDAM, July 16 (Reuters) - Dutch regulators suspended trading in shares of brokerage Van Der Moolen on Thursday pending an announcement, though the company could not say when that news would be released.

    The AFM suspended shares just before the market opened, saying it was awaiting a news release from the company. A spokeswoman for Van Der Moolen said a statement was coming, but was not certain it would be released on Thursday.
    Late on Wednesday Van Der Moolen said Hans Kroon had decided not to become a member of the company's board 'for personal reasons'. Kroon, a former CEO of the company and chairman of its supervisory board, was nominated to the executive board in May.

    The spokeswoman said the pending news was different from the news about Kroon.

    Van Der Moolen shares closed at 1.55 euros on Wednesday in Amsterdam. The stock has recovered from its lows in early March but is still off nearly 73 percent from its highs last August.

    In late May the brokerage posted a net loss on low trading volumes and a lack of market liquidity and again declined to forecast results for the year.

    The pending news was different from the news about Kroon.....

    Ik geloof niet in een overname, zeker niet zolang de belastingclaim iet is uitgezocht, maar toch: weet iemand hier wat een normale vergoeding is bij een overname voor compensabele verliezen: 10-20%?

    Ik geloof niet in een overname, zeker niet zolang de belastingclaim iet is uitgezocht, maar toch: weet iemand hier wat een normale vergoeding is bij een overname voor compensabele verliezen: 10-20%?

    Dat is nog steeds meer. Zit je op minimaal 30% anders legt de afm de handel ook niet stil.

    Van der Moolen puzzles again

    Van der Moolen serves as an easy target to make fun of. The listed trading firm has to inform the public on every bad move it makes. Today was another fine example. For unknown reasons the charming Hans Kroon decided not to join the board. A topic for speculation.

    Then the financial markets watchdog AFM suspended trading in the shares Van der Moolen, awaiting a press release which did not appear. Again a topic for speculation. Guess they will present a complicated press release with serious bad news on Friday. A very complicated story probably, because simple stuff could have been released within an hour and trading could continue. And bad news, as good news is easy to explain.

    Possible subjects for the coming press release:

    * Another serious loss on dividend tax?
    * A significant trading loss by rogue trading?
    * Losing the last quarter results in the train?
    * Insider trading?

    I would place my bets on trouble with dividend tax : a little bit of history repeating. Time will tell.

    Van der Moolen expects operational loss in Q2

    AMSTERDAM - Van der Moolen Holding N.V. (international trading and brokerage in listed equities and derivatives) announces today that it expects to make an operational loss of between € 7 million and € 8 million in the second quarter of 2009.

    Because of the disappointing results Mr. Richard den Drijver has decided, in the interest of the company, to step down as chairman of the Executive Board of Van der Moolen. After his resignation Mr. Den Drijver will however remain involved with the company as an advisor in order for Van der Moolen to retain his knowledge and experience.

    The Supervisory Board shall for the foreseeable future act as Executive Board of Van der Moolen. Their focus will be to secure financing in the short-term, to return to the core activities and to continue to reduce costs.

    AMSTERDAM (Dow Jones)--Van der Moolen verwacht over het tweede kwartaal een operationeel verlies dat ligt tussen EUR7 miljoen en EUR8 miljoen, aldus het handelshuis in effecten vrijdag in een persbericht.

    Chief executive officer Richard den Drijver treedt in verband met deze "teleurstellende resultaten" terug, maar blijft wel aan als adviseur.

    De Raad van Commissarissen zal voorlopig optreden als Raad van Bestuur.

    In die hoedanigheid zal deze zich voor de korte termijn toeleggen op het zeker stellen van de financiering, voortzetting van kostenreducties en terugkeer naar de kernactiviteiten.

    Het aandeel Moolen sloot donderdag op EUR1,55.

    Verlies resulteert in 20 cent per aandeel.
    Dus wat is de verwachting?
    Openen op 1,35 euro of nog lager of gaan we nog een uitleg krijgen waardoor het verlies beperkt blijft?
    Waardoor is dit verlies ontstaan zal men en ik graag willen weten.

    Enige troost is dat Den Drijver hier ook niet vrolijk van wordt als bijna 105 aandeelhouder.
    Dat geeft mij de moed om te wachten op betere tijden.
    Den drijver zal zijn geld ook terug willen.
    Belastingclaim?

    VDM blijft een groot ??????

    Het is ongeloofijk weer wat hier gebeurt zit weer eens een luchtje aan, een normaal aandeel had zwaar onder de 1 euro gegaan maar deze niet. De raad van bestuur is zeker zelf aan het inkopen nu.
