   The company said a vaccine containing only 1.9 micrograms of antigen generated a high level of seroprotective immune response in over 70 pct of the participants in the trial, which was conducted by vaccines unit Sanofi Pasteur.
   
   When fully developed, this reduced-dose vaccine could increase the company's potential production capacities to billions of doses in a pandemic, Sanofi-Aventis said.
   
   The company said the new vaccine tested was produced from inactivated H5N1 virus and contains a new adjuvant, or modifying agent, aimed at stimulating the immune system to increase the response to the vaccine.
   
   Preliminary data also show good cross-reactivity to a more recently circulating H5N1 strain, Sanofi-Aventis said, and further assessment is continuing of the vaccine's ability to provide cross-protection to variants of the H5N1 strains.
   
   Sanofi-Aventis said that it has committed, in the event of a pandemic being declared by the World Health Organization, to producing the largest possible number of doses of its most advanced pandemic influenza vaccine in the shortest possible time.

   ik denk dat het omslagpunt bij de 3e kw cijfers komt
   die zullen de verwachtingen van de analisten weer niet kunnen waarmaken
   net als bij de 1e en de 2e kw cijfers

   Wie tussen de lijnen leest, kan eruit opmaken dat ze ooit hun 20K PER.C6 tanks gaan gebruiken.
   Immers, maakt voor PER.C6 niet veel uit welk soort vaccine er gemaakt gaat worden, het seasonal vaccine kan ook van jaar tot jaar anders zijn.
   
   Met de voorziene goedkeuring van seasonal vaccine op PER.C6 wordt imo ook het pandemie vaccine gedekt, eens dit een seasonal outbreak heeft.

    Dan zou het toch fijn zijn als de winkel wat duidelijker in de twee (of meer?)BU's wordt gescheiden. Eigenlijk had ik dat in cijfers al bij Q2 verwacht. Bij Q3 ontkomen ze er niet aan lijkt me.

    Dat uit elkaar halen is toch wat ingewikkelder en vraagt imo wat tijd.
    
    Ik denk dat ze in Q3 pas een begin hebben kunnen maken om één en ander te overzien. Herinner me de bijdragen van Zeker van enige tijd terug dat er wat chaos heerst bij personeel en CFO. Imho heeft dit verband met het opsplitsen.
    
    Om het probleem wat ludiek voor te stellen:
    Stel, je laat elk personeelslid een bepaalde pet dragen ofwel die van de vaccine BU, ofwel die van de eiwit BU. Wat doe je dan met personeel die geen pet hebben of er 2 dienen op te zetten ?

    Een dergelijke scheiding zou ook tot uitdrukking moeten komen in de managementsstruktuur. Nu is onlangs een nieuwe COO (mr. Cees de Jong afkomstig van o.a. DSM)benoemd. Verder heb ik niets vernomen omtrent terugtreden/vertrek van de heer Simon Rothen (afkomstig van Berna die nog steeds op de Crucell-site als de vigerende COO vermeld staat).

Tot dusver hebben we slechts vage en summiere berichten vernomen m.b.t. het instellen van 2 afzonderlijke business-units. Ondertussen worden wel nieuwe benoemingen gedaan. Men mag toch aannemen dat e.e.a. berust op min of meer uitgekristaliseerde beleidslijnen voor de toekomst. Duidelijke en richtinggevende informatie hieromtrent ontbreekt momenteel. Dat is imo laakbaar want het werkt allerlei nadelig gespeculeer en onrust in de hand.

The move opens up the prospect of a GBP1 million milestone payment for the Cambridge, U.K.-based pharmaceuticals firm and has prompted speculation among investors that Sanofi-Aventis might be considering a takeover of Acambis to gain full control of its flagship ChimeriVax vaccine technology. Shares in Acambis at 1130 GMT were up 2% at 119.25 pence in a slightly higher London market. Sanofi Pasteur said Monday at a research and development meeting in Paris it has achieved positive results in phase II trials for ChimeriVax-Dengue and plans to start a large-scale phase III efficacy study early next year. The French drugs giant believes the potential market for the vaccine could be exceed EUR1 billion per year - 10% of which analysts estimate will go to Acambis in royalties. Using Acambis's technology, Sanofi is reportedly leading British rival GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK.L) in the race to develop a vaccine for dengue fever, or "breakbone fever", a mosquito-borne virus endemic in more than 100 countries in Africa, South America, south east Asia and the western Pacific, according to the World Health Organisation, which estimates two fifths of the world's population are at risk from the disease. Yet analysts and investors believe the vaccine will appeal outside the developing world. Cases have been found in Australia and the southern United States, and in the age of easy global travel and multinational corporations with far-flung operations, western travelers are increasingly likely to seek vaccination against the virus. Andy Smith, manager of the International Biotechnology Trust, which holds about 2.5% of its portfolio in Acambis, told Dow Jones Newswires he thinks Sanofi's EUR1 billion estimate is "too bullish" but he agreed there is a bigger market than what was first envisioned when Acambis developed the product. "We have more and more people taking gap years to far off places and international companies are relocating staff to subsidiaries in other regions. Before they go they will need to be protected from diseases endemic in these locations and that's where the growth of this vaccine will come from," he said. Earlier this year Acambis gained approval for its smallpox vaccine from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Smith said this shows Acambis has the ability to register new products and manufacture them, even though it lost out on a lucrative contract with the U.S. government to rival Bavarian Nordic A/S (BAVA.KO).     Tja, zo'n aanpassing da's geen sinecure, wellicht dat ze daar toch een nieuw personeelslid voor moeten aanstellen, waar ze dan waarschijnlijk WEL een PB voor zullen uitbrengen.
    
    Het blijft aanmodderen met de IR/PR afdeling van Crucell.
    
    Ziek word ik er van.
    (Kan er door Crucell gen Vaccin tegen non-informatie ontwikkeld worden?)
