    Aperam trekt bijna 5 miljoen eigen aandelen in

    Na inkoop eigen aandelen.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) Aperam heeft bijna 5 miljoen eigen aandelen ingetrokken, nadat deze eerder werden ingekocht. Dit maakte de roestvast staalspecialist woensdag in een persbericht bekend.

    Deze aandelen zijn ingekocht onder de inkoopprogramma's die werden aangekondigd op 11 februari 2022 en op 6 mei 2022.

    Met de intrekking van in totaal 4,85 miljoen aandelen staan er nu circa 73,2 miljoen aandelen Aperam uit.

    Volgende week misschien melding van een forsere inkoop van aandelen, arcelor mittal noteert nog steeds maar aan de helft van de boekwaarde, dus voluit gaan voor inkopen moet op termijn wel op aandeelhouderswaarde creëren.

    Zolang dat arcelor mittal onder boekwaarde noteert heb ik er geen probleem mee dat ze inkopen doen.

    Minder winst voor Indiaas staalconcern Tata Steel; verlies hoogovens IJmuiden

    Gisteren, 19:22 in FINANCIEEL

    MUMBAI - Tata Steel heeft het afgelopen kwartaal een aanzienlijk lagere winst geboekt dan een jaar eerder. Het Indiase staalconcern had last van lagere staalprijzen door een overaanbod van Chinees staal. De Nederlandse dochteronderneming in IJmuiden drong haar operationele verlies terug.

    De nettowinst in het vierde kwartaal van Tata Steels gebroken boekjaar kwam uit op 5,6 miljard roepie, omgerekend €61,6 miljoen. Dit is ruim 64% minder dan het jaar ervoor. Naast lagere staalprijzen kwam dat ook door een eenmalige kostenpost voor een mijn in India.

    Breaking News: Marcegaglia acquires Ascometal For-sur-Mer, eyes HRC production
    Steel News | May 31, 2024
    The Strasbourg administrative tribunal has awarded insolvent Ascometal’s Fos-sur-Mer site in the south of France to Italian re-roller and steelmaker Marcegaglia. The plant will be renamed Marcegaglia Fos-sur-Mer and will produce hot rolled coil.

    Antonio Marcegaglia confirms to Kallanish his group will retain the electric arc furnace-based unit’s entire workforce and will invest about €600 million ($650m) in its revamping.

    The current ingot producing equipment will be replaced with a continuous slab caster and a rolling line for HRC, with an annual capacity of between 1.6 million and 2 million tonnes. Marcegaglia Fos-sur-Mer is expected to provide about 30% of the company’s HRC procurement needs. The site will be transformed with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, producing steel from scrap and low-emission direct reduced iron.

    “This important acquisition is part of the Group's global strategy to integrate the entire value chain into our production,” Marcegaglia’s management say in a note. “The Port of Marseille is strategically located in terms of raw materials procurement and logistics. The significant industrial transformation project and the innovative technologies used will make the Fos-sur-Mer plant one of the most important assets of our Group. This investment is part of the broader development and decarbonisation strategy of the Group's activities.”

    HRC production is scheduled to start by mid-2027. In the meantime, Marcegaglia aims to optimise Fos-sur-Mer’s existing production lines. The plant produces bearing and engineering steels, including ingots, billets and blooms, large-diameter rolled round bars and wire rod. Output has been significantly reduced.

    In March, Ascometal was declared insolvent and went into receivership after the proposed sale of its units to Italian long steel producer Acciaierie Venete was terminated (see Kallanish passim).

    Acquisition expands ArcelorMittal Construction’s product portfolio and market capabilities of its panels business

    ArcelorMittal Construction has completed the acquisition of Italpannelli SRL in Italy and Italpannelli Iberica in Spain. This marks the second acquisition of Italpannelli businesses by ArcelorMittal, following the purchase of Italpannelli Germany near Trier in March 2023.

    Italpannelli is a manufacturer of lightweight insulation panels for roofs and façades. It operates two production plants across Europe, in Zaragoza (Spain) and Abruzzo (Italy). Combined the two facilities operate seven production lines with a capacity of thirteen million m2 of sandwich panels a year, primarily serving customers in the central and eastern European, French, German, Italian and Spanish markets and employ approximately 260 people.

    The acquisition adds considerable strategic value to ArcelorMittal Construction’s business:

    Growth: Significantly increases ArcelorMittal Construction’s capabilities in its panel business to deliver in new markets – an area of growth focus – with significant potential for further organic growth.
    Enhanced geographic market offering: Provides access to new geographies.
    Product capabilities: Enriches its product portfolio with long span decking with PVC membrane, sections doors, tile shaped or corrugated sandwich panels to better serve the agricultural, residential and coldstore segments through the different channels.
    Synergies: Significant synergies identified with efficiency gains and cost benefits.
    Commenting, Jean Christophe Kennel, CEO, ArcelorMittal Construction, said:

    “I am delighted to announce the conclusion of our agreement to acquire Italpannelli. The company has built a formidable reputation as a high-quality supplier of lightweight sandwich panels and is highly regarded in the market for its service and delivery. After acquiring its German business last year, we have seen this excellence first-hand. It is very pleasing to now add its Italian and Spanish businesses to our operations. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all Italpannelli employees joining ArcelorMittal.”
