    Een nieuwe generatie batterijen van 's werelds grootste accuproducent CATL moet definitief komaf maken met de lange laadtijden voor elektrische auto's.

    CATL begint tegen het einde van dit jaar met de grootschalige productie van de Shenxing-batterij, die vervolgens vanaf het eerste kwartaal van volgend jaar aan de klanten geleverd kan worden.

    De Shenxing-batterij moet een maximaal rijbereik van 700 kilometer bieden, maar het belangrijkste voordeel is de snelle oplaadtijd. Aan een snellaadpaal kan in nauwelijks tien minuten voldoende energie worden geladen om de elektrische auto tot 400 kilometer extra bereik te geven. Ter vergelijking: Tesla's krachtigste batterijpakket kan aan een supercharger 275 kilometer bereik toevoegen in een kwartier.

    Laadtijden zijn, naast de kostprijs van e-auto's en de beschikbaarheid van laadinfrastructuur, een cruciaal element in het wegnemen van de weerstand om van een auto met klassieke verbrandingsmotor over te schakelen op een volledig elektrische variant.

    Daar komt nog bij dat CATL de nieuwe snellaadtijden weet te bereiken met een LFP-batterij. Dat is een batterijsoort die al lang bestaat, maar pas de jongste jaren populair is bij automakers. Die gebruikten aanvankelijk louter lithium-ionbatterijen: dezelfde technologie voor batterijen van laptops en smartphones.

    LFP heeft als voordeel dat het minder zeldzame aardmetalen gebruikt dan de lithium-ionbatterijen en ook een stuk goedkoper is. Een groter gewicht en een tragere laadsnelheid waren echter belangrijke nadelen, waardoor autobouwers LFP alleen in de goedkoopste versies van hun elektrische modellen gebruiken.

    Over de prijs van de nieuwe Shenxing-batterij is nog niets bekend. Analisten rekenen erop dat die in vergelijking met de lithium-ionbatterijen nog altijd zeer concurrentieel zal zijn.

    Het Chinese CATL is met afstand de grootste producent van batterijen ter wereld. Met een geschat aandeel van 37 procent in de markt voor batterijen voor e-auto's is het bijna twee keer zo groot als zijn naaste rivaal, BYD. Veel grote autobouwers zijn trouwe klant bij CATL, waaronder Tesla, de Volkswagen-groep, Mercedes-Benz en Hyundai.

    Nano One® Materials Corp. The Company is pleased to report that it has received the final contribution of $803,300 from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (“SDTC”) and the Government of British Columbia’s Innovative Clean Energy (“ICE”) Fund. This completes the Company’s second SDTC project and its success led to a third SDTC funded project that was previously announced in February 2023 which is expected to provide an additional $10 million in non-dilutive funding.

    Support for Nano One’s Scaling of Advanced Battery Materials Project was awarded by SDTC in May 2019 and completed in January 2023 with total government contributions of $8.25M, with $5.25M from SDTC and $3M from the ICE Fund, respectively. This final contribution of $803,300 represents a 10% holdback that is awarded once all successful commitments and reporting requirements have been achieved.

    “SDTC has been an important contributor to Nano One over the years and has been instrumental in propelling us to where we are today,” stated Nano One’s CEO Mr. Dan Blondal. “Their funding for this project provided the means to execute our business plans and aided in securing additional support from the capital markets and from various strategically interested parties. With SDTC and ICE Fund support, we grew our team, added to our portfolio of intellectual property and optimized our processing technology and know-how. We believe we can be cleaner, greener and leaner than the methods used in Asia, while being cost competitive in Canada, North America, Europe and the Indo-Pacific region.”

    Advancing the Scale of the One-Pot Process

    The funded project helped Nano One accelerate significant advances in scaling of its One-Pot process for lithium iron phosphate (“LFP”), specifically in preparation for pilot and industrial scale production at its recently acquired facilities in Candiac, Québec. The project enabled 10 kg batches of One-Pot LFP and greater for third party evaluation that have since led to trials in the company’s Candiac facility that are exceeding 1000 kg (1 tonne).

    Through the course of the project, the team was able to reduce reaction times resulting in cost reduction and improved yield. The team also reduced CAPEX and OPEX associated with the One-Pot process for LFP as compared to existing LFP methods and they developed a comprehensive techno-economic model for LFP, providing confidence for large scale piloting and production activities at its Candiac facility.

    The project also supported the development of Nano One’s innovative metal-to-cathode-active-materials (“M2CAM”) technology, that simplifies the supply chain and enables the use of metal powders instead of environmentally problematic metal sulphates. M2CAM aims to eliminate wastewater and waste sulphate, cost effectively, and this is of increasing strategic interest in North America, Europe and other regions where there are environmental standards coupled with the need for tens of millions of tonnes of CAM production.

    Nano One® Materials Corp.     2,000 tpa Commercial Reactors (existing):

    Nano One has continued to optimize trials in the existing commercial scale reactors, reproducing lab and development results. This demonstrates the One-Pot process can scale to commercial volumes and advances the de-risking of the technology at commercial scale. This rapid advancement allows commercial scale LFP samples to be sent to qualified customers, ahead of schedule, for thorough evaluation and validation for the purposes of entering binding offtake agreements for both the existing Candiac plant and the first full commercial line to be built next door. Optimization will continue and the results have helped identify key processing parameters and will expedite the commercial scale-up process.

    Successful repeatable LFP trials in the existing commercial scale reactors will lead to an accelerated refurbishment of the plant to automatize the use of the existing reactors for the One-Pot process. This will enable continuous production capabilities up to 2,000 tpa level toward the end of 2024.

    200 tpa Pilot Reactors (new):

    In parallel, the team has continued to work on the reception, installation, and commissioning of the 200 tpa One-Pot reactors. These reactors will provide important information to improve the processes and support validation in a cost-effective manner as the Company continues to innovate. They also allow Nano One to have a baseline automated production capacity of 200 tpa, ready to deliver to customers once they have validated the product.

    Ik weet niet of je echt de aandelen op de Frankfurtse beurs kunt krijgen of dat je via Tradegate dezen dan koopt. Check de kosten bij beiden. DeGiro hanteert hogere transactiekosten hiervoor.
    Algemeen wordt altijd geadviseerd de aandelen te kopen op de beurs waar het bedrijf origineel zijn aandelen heeft gedropt. In dit geval dus in Toronto.
    Hier heb je wel 'last' van de CAD/EU koers (als je de aandelen voor een tijdje hebt staan in je portefeuille) en je betaalt bij iedere transactie ook kosten voor 'omzetten euro naar cad'.

    Met deze items moet je zelf de afweging maken.

    Our SVP of External Affairs, Adam Johnson, was just in Ottawa to meet with Minister Nishimura and senior executives from key Japanese businesses, the Government of Canada and other Canadian businesses. Everyone there was committed to an EV future with reduced emissions and safe, secure supply chains.
